"G.I.S.C"
by Jim Tait
Gan Island Post 5th May 1972
G.I.S.C. doesn't mean "Give it stick, c__", No! It means GAN ISLAND SAILING CLUB, although that
particular expression may be heard on some day's during the closing stages of racing.
The club is about to squire 8 new boats, creating vacancies for more helms and some crew. This is an opportunity
not to be ignored; learning the rudiments of sailing at very low cost. Where else can one sail every day for £1 a MONTH! That's all it costs.
Complete novices, by reason of the ideally suitable conditions can acquire a helmsman's basic certificate in
only weeks. More experienced sailors can improve their technique and further their experience, to acquire more
proficient grades of helmsmanship. Sailing takes place every day. Contact Sqn Ldr TAIT, Education Section,
Ext 219 or amble down to the sailing club behind the Education Section any afternoon. Remember you can't have
"Q" to crew until you've got your helmsman's certificate.
